Second Fartlek
May 22, 2010
Distance: 3 miles (fartlek).
Successes: Finding ways to vary the fartlek; making it through. The fartlek is a very challenging workout.
I did the full 3 miles in one fell swoop this time. The workout consisted of a run to the track, the interval part of the fartlek, then a run back home. The run to the track is .8 miles. I ran both .8 mile distances at a light jog.
The track part of the fartlek was 6 loops. I would alternate between walking, jogging, running, and sprinting throughout. One of my favorite loops consisted of my jogging 10 steps, then running 10 steps, then sprinting 10 steps. Believe me, that was intense. Other loops consisted of walking or jogging the curves, and running and/or sprinting the straights.
Next run: Monday, 4 miles.
Onward!
